January 6, 2014 - West Babylon, NY - Unfortunately natural catastrophes are inevitable; it is how we work together as a community in aiding victims of these unforeseen disasters that is of the upmost importance. Throughout the years the Long Island Board of REALTORS® Inc. (LIBOR) has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars for disaster relief efforts, including wildfires, tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes.
Most recently, LIBOR made a contribution of $10,000 to aid the victims of Super-typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) that has devastated the Philippines. This donation will directly support the efforts of the Philippine American Society for Arts & Culture (PASAC) and the B-Safer Communities Fund, in their mission to pave the road to recovery; by building stronger jobs, homes, and infrastructure which will hopefully minimize the devastation from future occurrences.
We are pleased to share an excerpt from the PASAC letter we received acknowledging LIBOR for their generosity:
“The urgency is to rebuild and recreate a sense of community, culture, and home where far too little now exists in the affected areas. PASAC believes that it is important that we break ground towards paving sustainable, flexible, and reasonable priced shelters for displaced victims. Through your donation, we are initiating the first phase of a demonstration container building to be delivered by the middle of February 2014 to Bantayan Island in Northern Cebu, Philippines.
We have listed LIBOR as a partner on our B-SAFER Donations page. As the project evolves, please refer friends and colleagues to visit www.pasac.org for updates or to donate directly. Thank you again for your commitment to PASAC’s SAFER Communities Fund. We could not build safe and resilient homes for those impacted by this disaster without the help of the community.” Shonee Henry, Allegro Realty International.
