Long Island Board of REALTORS® Member Awards and Recognition

Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) is proud to celebrate members who are experts in their fields, advocates in their communities, leaders amongst their peers and champions of the advancement of the real estate profession.

Annually, LIBOR recognizes the accomplishments and service of select members and presents awards of excellence in the following categories:

Please take a moment to consider nominating a fellow REALTOR^® or Affiliate Member who is truly deserving of one of LIBOR’s prestigious awards. All nominees must be LIBOR Members in good standing.

REALTOR^® Broker of the Year

REALTOR^® Broker of the Year award is presented annually to a REALTOR^® who exhibits great dedication to LIBOR’s members and mission and has contributed to the advancement of the professional image of REALTORS^® . The recipient is recognized as an industry leader whose service qualities are exemplary.

Requirements:

• A minimum of five (5) years as a REALTOR^® with current, active leadership involvement at LIBOR, New York State Association of REALTORS^® (NYSAR), and National Association of REALTORS^® (NAR).
• Demonstrates high principles of integrity, adherence to the REALTOR^® Code of Ethics, and furtherance of the principles of the REALTOR^® organization and professionalism.
• Holds a current, active real estate license and is in good standing with LIBOR, and is either a Designated REALTOR^® (DR) or Manager.
• Previous recipients of this award and current LIBOR President are not eligible for nomination.

REALTOR^® Salesperson of the Year

REALTOR^® Salesperson of the Year award is presented annually to a REALTOR^® who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the advancement of the real estate industry. The recipient epitomizes what it means to be a REALTOR^® through service to their profession, peers, and the REALTOR^®  Association. 

Requirements:

• A minimum of three (3) years as a REALTOR^® with current, active leadership involvement at LIBOR, New York State Association of REALTORS^® (NYSAR), and National Association of REALTORS^® (NAR).
• Demonstrates tireless and meaningful service to the real estate industry, highest professional and ethical conduct, and participates in initiatives that have a positive impact on the members of LIBOR.
• Holds a current, active real estate license and is in good standing with LIBOR.
• Previous recipients of this award and current LIBOR President are not eligible for nomination.

REALTOR^® Affiliate of the Year 

REALTOR^® Affiliate of the Year award recognizes one LIBOR Affiliate member annually who provides outstanding service to LIBOR, and has a positive, professional impact on the real estate industry.

Requirements:

• Must be an individual from an Affiliate-Member firm of LIBOR in good standing.
• Actively supports the association by participation and sponsorship in meetings, events, classes, and other board related functions.
• Previous recipients of this award are not eligible for nomination.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes one REALTOR^® annually who has made significant contributions to the association and real estate profession through leadership, teamwork, and community involvement. These industry leaders serve as icons in the real estate community.

Requirements:

• A minimum of thirty-five (35) years in real estate and a minimum of thirty (30) years as a REALTOR^® .
• Service and/or contributions to LIBOR, New York State Association of REALTORS^® (NYSAR), and National Association of REALTORS^® (NAR), as well as community involvement.
• Holds a current, active real estate license and is in good standing with LIBOR.
• Previous recipients of this award are not eligible for nomination.

REALTOR^® Spirit Award

LIBOR’s REALTOR^® Spirit Award recognizes one REALTOR^®  annually who has made an extraordinary impact on their community, or on the national or world stage, through volunteer work, charitable efforts, youth related or other activities that demonstrate outstanding commitment to community service. One winner will receive a $5,000 grant for their community cause. Previous recipients of this award are not eligible for nomination.

Young Professionals Network (YPN) 20 Under 40 Rising Stars in Real Estate

20 LIBOR member real estate professionals, 40 years of age or younger will be chosen annually for their excellence in the areas of sales, leadership and community involvement and have demonstrated ingenuity, creativity, and leadership in their careers. Candidates represent what the selection committee considers an overall well-rounded REALTOR^® .

Previous recipients of this award are not eligible for nomination. Once a member has been awarded with this honor, they are a lifetime inductee of the LIBOR YPN 20 Under 40.

The deadline to apply is May 1, 2023.

President’s Award

The President’s Award is a person chosen by the current LIBOR President as someone who has been instrumental in helping him or her during his or her administration.

State and National Awards Programs

New York State Association of REALTORS^® Awards

National Association of REALTORS^® Awards

REALTOR^® Emeritus Status

A REALTOR^® Member who has held membership in the National Association as a REALTOR^® , REALTOR-ASSOCIATE^® , or both, for a cumulative period of forty (40) years, is eligible for REALTOR^® Emeritus status.

Please note: Applications can ONLY be submitted by the local association on behalf of the member requesting Emeritus status.

The REALTOR^® Emeritus status eligibility requirements are:

Forty (40) years of REALTOR^® or REALTOR-ASSOCIATE^® (or both) membership.

Proof of one (1) year of service* at the National Association level.

*"Service" is defined as serving as an NAR officer, director, committee member, Federal Political Coordinator, Global Ambassador, or Global Coordinator to a country with which NAR holds a reciprocal agreement.
