On October 29, 2025 a team of dedicated REALTOR® and Affiliate members from Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) joined forces with Rebuilding Together Long Island (RTLI) to construct a wheelchair-accessible ramp for a disabled homeowner in Bellmore, NY. This collaboration reflects LIBOR’s unwavering commitment to helping Long Islanders achieve and maintain homeownership while making a lasting impact in the communities they serve.
The new ramp will provide the homeowner with safe and independent access to their home, greatly improving their quality of life. In addition to providing hands-on volunteer support, LIBOR also contributed $5,000 to RTLI to further their mission of repairing homes, revitalizing communities and rebuilding lives.
For more than 30 years, RTLI has been a leading organization in Nassau and Suffolk counties, providing essential home repairs and modifications— free of charge to income-qualified homeowners. RTLI’s dedicated volunteers perform a wide range of services, including carpentry, electrical and plumbing repairs, roof and yard maintenance, and accessibility upgrades such as wheelchair ramps for individuals with physical challenges.
This project marks the 20th year of collaboration between LIBOR and RTLI. Over the past two decades, LIBOR’s sponsorships and REALTOR® volunteer initiatives have supported RTLI’s efforts to create safer, healthier homes and stronger communities across Long Island.
“REALTORS® are deeply rooted in the communities where we live and work,” said Mark Donnelly, President of Long Island Board of REALTORS®. “Our partnership with Rebuilding Together Long Island reflects our shared belief that everyone deserves a safe and accessible place to call home. It’s inspiring to see the difference we can make when we come together to lend a helping hand.”
Through its continued partnership with RTLI, LIBOR reaffirms its mission to strengthen communities, support housing stability, and enhance the quality of life for Long Islanders.
