December 6, 2013 - West Babylon, NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) is pleased to announce that REALTOR® Charlotte Vanderwaag has been named the recipient of the prestigious REALTOR®-Broker of the Year award. The announcement was made recently at the association’s Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
Charlotte began her real estate career and became a member of LIBOR in 1986. She started her career as a licensed Realtor® salesperson with Smith and DeGroat which later became Coach Realtors®. Charlotte is currently a licensed broker and partner of Coach Realtors® of the Willistons.
Charlotte is a registered nurse who worked at Long Island Jewish Hospital, specializing in OBGYN, until 1985. As her children grew, along with her passion for real estate, she left in 1986 to begin her new career as a Realtor®. Charlotte soon became active and involved with LIBOR and her local chapter, Central Nassau. She served as a Director for Central Nassau from 2004- 2012 and has been a Director of LIBOR since 2008. She has served on several LIBOR committees. In 2012, she chaired LIBOR’s Professional Standards Committee and more recently, is 2013 Vice Chair of LIBOR’s Legislative Committee.
One of her passions is the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR). Charlotte served in every capacity of Long Island’s WCR, including President in 2009. At the State level, Charlotte serves on several committees and has been a member of New York State’s Women’s Council of REALTORS® since 2008. She rose from WCR New York State Secretary in 2010 to WCR New York State Governor, overseeing 5 chapters in 2013. In 2014, she will serve as Regional Vice President for the Women’s Council of Realtors with the responsibility of overseeing five surrounding states. A believer in education, Charlotte holds the SRES, CRB, CBR and CHMS, designations.
Charlotte has been married to her husband and best friend Bob for 35 years; they have three daughters, Donna, Cathy and Megan and 11 grandchildren. When not working or volunteering, she enjoys golfing, gardening, knitting and crocheting, especially baby blankets.
