Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR) is pleased to announce that Chief Executive Officer Tessa Hultz, RCE, CAE, CIPS, has been selected as a recipient of City & State New York’s Above and Beyond Awards. This award recognizes 50 remarkable women for their accomplishments in improving New York, across various sectors including politics, media, education, nonprofits, and beyond.
Since 2019, Hultz has led the 30,000-member trade association, which covers Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties and is one of the largest, most diverse memberships in the nation. Hultz’s focus has been on transforming the over one-hundred-year-old organization to adequately represent and meet the needs of members today and members of the future.
In 2021, Tessa Hultz collaborated with Nassau and Suffolk County legislators to identify properties and areas with racially restrictive covenants for the purpose of removal. She also worked to increase education on fair housing for both members and the public and promoted implicit bias training. In addition, Hultz played an instrumental role in the creation of LIBOR’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee, which aims to create a more welcoming and inclusive culture in the real estate community.
Hultz facilitated a new strategic plan for LIBOR that promotes high ethical standards, innovative services, proactive advocacy, education, and protection of private property rights. She also worked to revise LIBOR’s bylaws and policies related to the election and composition of the Board. Her efforts led to the establishment of term limits to provide opportunities for others to serve in leadership roles and to create a more diverse group of leaders within the organization.
“As an industry leader, Tessa Hultz’s passion lies in advocating for safe, affordable housing for all,” said LIBOR President Kevin Loiacono. “In her short tenure at LIBOR, Tessa has gone above and beyond to create a new identity for our association, one as a national leader in opportunity and equality in homeownership. LIBOR is proud to celebrate this acknowledgment and all of her accomplishments.”
