December 5, 2012 - West Babylon, NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) is proud to announce that the distinguished 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented to Marian Fraker-Gutin, for her remarkable dedication and over forty five years in the real estate industry. The announcement was made recently at the association’s Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
Marian Fraker-Gutin joined LIBOR in 1976 and has been a licensed real estate professional since 1967. She is currently associated with Select A Home Island South Realty in Merrick and has earned the prestigious GRI real estate designation.
In 1970, Marian became broker-owner of Mary Elmore Realty Co. in Merrick, for more than 36 years, Marian has been an active member of the Board serving on almost every committee as Chairperson or member. In 1990 she became an executive officer of the Board and in 1994 she served as President. In 1995 she received LIBOR’s prestigious REALTOR® Broker of the Year Award.
Marian served MLS as a Zone Chairperson Officer and President in 1983. She also served as a director for the LI REALTORS® Federal Credit Union since 1972 and was President from 1977-1982.
In 2005, Marian was once again elected LIBOR President and to this day is still very active on committees, also serving as director for both MLS and LIBOR. She is a member of Cove Building Committee as well as Trustee for employee’s pension plan and 401k.
On the State level, Marian has been a director and committee member volunteer since 1982. She was honored as NYS REALTOR® of the Year in 1999. On the National level, she has been a director and committee member since 1984. Marian serves as NYS Liaison for Congress, Senate and is a Federal Political Coordinator to Congressman Peter King for the past 20 years.
In her hometown community of Merrick, Marian is Past President twice of the Merrick Chamber of Congress. She continues to volunteer her time as a director today. She was recognized as Woman of the Year in 1981 by Merrick Chamber of Congress and also Outstanding Small Business Owner in 1985 by the Nassau County Council of Chambers. She is a founder along with three others, of the OPAS Group that capped the “Merrick Dump” to create the Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve in Merrick. She assists the Merrick Kiwanis Club with their fundraisers and is a member of the Historical Society of Merrick and Friends of Merrick Library.
Recently widowed by the death of her beloved husband, Lou Gutin, Marian lives in Merrick where her son Paul, daughter in-law Terri and grandsons Nicholas and Thomas “the loves of her life,” reside nearby. Her daughter Ellen and her husband Tom live in New Jersey and her bachelor, Capt. Lawrence lives in Virginia. Marian has five adult step-children from her marriage with Lou, five grandchildren and now one great-granddaughter. Lloyd Gutin, Lou’s son and a member of LIBOR is known as Marian’s “right arm.”
It was an honor to the board to recognize such an amazing lifetime of work, by someone who has made innumerous strides in the real estate community.
