Long Island Board of REALTORS® Presents 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award to Barbara Ford

December 6, 2013 - West Babylon, NY - The Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) is proud to announce that the honored 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award has been presented to Barbara Ford, Esq., for her unrelenting commitment and dedication to LIBOR /MLSLI and the real estate industry for over thirty years. The announcement was made recently at the association’s Annual Installation and Awards Dinner held at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.

Barbara began her real estate career and became a member of LIBOR in 1980, when she became a sales associate with Ford Real Estate in Floral Park. In 1982, she was voted Realtor® Associate of the Year. She has served as a director for MLSLI and NYSAR since 1997 and as a Director for LIBOR since 2004. She has served on the MLS Executive Committee since 2005.

Barbara obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Finance in 1995 from C.W. Post. She attended Touro Law School and graduated cum laude in 1998. Her law practice is concentrated in the area of civil litigation in the State and Federal courts, business formations and real estate.

Barbara is a NYS Certified Instructor for Real Estate licensing and Continuing Education. She is currently chair of LIBOR’s Legislative Committee and has served on numerous committees and working groups with MLS, LIBOR and NYSAR.   She has chaired the Common Interest Ownership Committee on both the local and state level and has spearheaded the effort to bring fairness and accountability to cooperative transactions to protect our members’ livelihood and the public from discrimination. In 1997 she successfully led the effort to eliminate the requirement of the Martin Act that required real estate licensees to pay hundreds of dollars in registration fees to participate in the sale of cooperatives and condominiums.   In addition, she is the FPC for Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy and is the legislative liaison to State Senator Kemp Hannon.

Barbara resides in Garden City with her husband Wes, enjoys a fulfilling and special relationship with her children and grandchildren, her sisters and brothers, her many nieces and nephews and with the loyal and special members of her extended real estate family.
