Long Island REALTOR® Janay Malloy has been named an honoree of the 2022 Diversity in Business Awards by Long Island Business News. Malloy and business leaders from across Long Island were honored at the publication’s awards ceremony at the Crest Hollow Country Club on March 22, 2022.
Since 2016, the Diversity in Business Awards program has highlighted the outstanding achievements of business leaders of diverse ethnic backgrounds who actively support the growth of diversity and equality in the Long Island community.
Malloy has been recognized for her contributions and commitment to promoting diversity within the real estate industry and encouraging thought leaders from all walks of life, as the Vice-Chair of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee of Long Island Board of REALTORS® (LIBOR). The mission of the committee is to create a more inclusive culture in the real estate community and throughout LIBOR, through outreach, education, advocacy, and collaboration. Malloy leads the committee to develop initiatives that raise awareness of LIBOR’s membership diversity, which includes more than 28,000 real estate professionals throughout Suffolk, Nassau, and Queens Counties.
Since obtaining her real estate license in 1996, Malloy has helped inspire diversity in the greater Long Island community by helping those in underserved communities realize the dream of homeownership. As a real estate broker for Keller Williams Legendary in Franklin Square, NY, Malloy saw that it was easy to help someone purchase a home but that didn’t necessarily help them in their financial situation. She provides free education, coaching, and mentorship to help people become financially independent.
As the 2021-2022 President of Queens National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB), Malloy is also focused on increasing black homeownership and expanding democracy in housing. This determination for democracy extends to Malloy’s role as a Director for the New York State Association of REALTORS® (NYSAR) and as 2022 Chairperson of Membership for the South Queens Chapter of the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP).
This is the second year in a row that a Long Island REALTOR® has been honored with a LIBN Diversity in Business Award; last year REALTOR® Rao Shaan Khan was a recipient.
"Long Island Board of REALTORS® is proud to celebrate Janay Malloy’s leadership and commitment to creating an inclusive environment in which everyone has the same opportunities to grow and succeed,” said LIBOR President Kevin Loiacono. “Janay has been truly invested in the betterment of her community and industry, helping to elevate the diverse Long Island population. She gives of her time selflessly to better her community and raise the quality of life, and education of those in need.”
Long Island Board of REALTORS®, Inc. (LIBOR) is a not-for-profit trade association and the fourth-largest local REALTOR® board in the United States, with approximately 30,000 members. Since 1910, LIBOR has served real estate professionals in Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties seeking career advancement, community engagement, homeownership advocacy, and unwavering professional standards.
