City of Yes: NYC Planning Commission Approves, City Council Next

Oct 2, 2024

"The City Planning Commission overwhelmingly approved Mayor Eric Adams’ ambitious City of Yes rezoning plan by a vote of 10 to 3, setting up a two-month deadline to win approval from the City Council," reported The City. "But with the mayor’s indictment Wednesday night, the prospects for the proposal, which CPC Chair Dan Garodnick called 'one of the most momentous projects in the history of city planning,' suddenly is thrust into limbo."

"A new poll found that 72 percent of voters approved of the City of Yes when it was explained to them, while just 22 percent opposed it," reported Politico. "Converting office buildings to housing was the most popular piece of the plan with 82 percent approval."
