Jun 18, 2025

Hempstead Village Mayor Waylyn Hobbs, Jr., newly reelected to a second term as leader of New York State's most populous village, joined LIBOR's Member Engagement Committee and the local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB) for our second annual Juneteenth celebration.

Mayor Hobbs, a former village trustee and member of the local housing authority, has secured over $160M in new funding for Hempstead's economic redevelopment, with a focus on not only infrastructure updates, but also market-rate and affordable housing for all generations.

"I'm excited about the direction we are moving. It is organizations like this that help us to promote our healthy development and make sure that our people have access to fair housing. That is so important," said Mayor Hobbs.
